About the Police Department
The BPD is the 8th largest municipal police force in the United States, staffed by nearly 4,000 civilian and sworn personnel.
The department's jurisdiction covers Maryland's largest city, with a population of 641,000.
As the mayor, Sheila Dixon is working with the police department and the citizens of Baltimore to provide a means to dramatically reduce crime.
