The Baltimore Police Department offers 4-Day processing for the convenience of out-of-state applicants or those with a drive time exceeding two hours. Four-day processing is done monthly on pre-determined dates. The 4-day process begins on a Friday and concludes on a Monday. The process consists of the Civil Service exam, a preliminary interview, physical agility test, background interview, psychological exam, polygraph exam, and a full physical examination. Applicants must pass each step to proceed to the next stage in the application process.
At the completion of 4-day processing, a thorough background investigation will be conducted by the investigator, which may take up to 30 - 45 days. At the conclusion of the background investigation, applicants will be notified in writing whether they have been approved for employment, suspended for a period of time for eligibility, or rejected.
The application packet must be printed out, completed in advance, and submitted on the first day of the process.
In addition, all required documents listed on page #2 of the application packet are needed on the first day of the 4-day process. Applicants who fail to complete the applications and/or fail to bring in documents will not be processed.
Applicants should contact the Recruitment Unit at 410-396-2340 no later than the prior week to schedule the 4-Day weekend selected. Please inquire as to what discounted hotel or housing may be available to you.
Any additional questions will be gladly answered by an available recruiter.
On the first day of the 4-day weekend, applicants must report to 601 East Fayette Street Baltimore, MD 21201 at 8:00 a.m on Friday. Arrive in business attire. Bring work-out clothing with you in the morning for the physical agility test, which will be the last scheduled activity on Friday afternoon. If traveling by car to the headquarters building, expect to pay up to $12.00 for parking in any one of the garages within two blocks of walking distance. Free parking may be located on the week-ends.
