On May 13, 2008, the Baltimore Police Department participated in the 12th Annual Run to Remember.
The Run commemorates the lives lost to terrorism on September 11, 2001, and pays tribute to fallen firefighters and policemen.
This year, running from the fire academy to Memorial Park at the Shot Tower, was Police Commissioner Frederick Bealefeld, Deputy Commissioner of Administration Deborah Owens, Education and Training Director Major Jodie McFadden, Police Officer Trainees from the Education and Training Division, and 80 police officers from various police jurisdictions. A memorial ceremony was held at the park.
The Honorable Mayor Sheila Dixon and fallen officer survivors, Angela Halcomb and Fred Roussey, spoke at the ceremony. The Baltimore Police Department's Motorcycle Unit, Aviation Unit and Honor Guard helped make this a memorable event.
