In the early morning hours of January 9th, 2010, after responding to a call for a sizable crowd disturbance at a nightclub, Officer William Torbit, was shot while attempting to intercede.
While the circumstances are still under review, it appears preliminarily that other on-duty police officers were involved, and the incident resulted in the shooting of four civilians and two police officers (Officer Torbit and one civilian fatally).
