Northern District Patrol units responded within minutes of the call and identified an individual matching the caller’s description. Officers noticed that the subject was exhibiting characteristics of a possibly armed person and located a 10-12 inch silver knife hidden in the sleeve of his coat with the blade facing outward.
The subject was transported to the Northern District where he later gave a full confession to a January 18th attempted robbery of two female joggers in the 3900 block of St Paul Street. No property was taken in that case and the victims were able to break free and contact police.
17 year old Daniel Rockwell was charged as an adult with attempted robbery, assault, concealing and possessing a dangerous weapon. Mr. Rockwell has prior contacts with law enforcement.
Investigators believe Rockwell was possibly attempting another robbery and was thwarted by the vigilance and proactive actions of a concerned citizen.
Police urge anyone who observes any suspicious activity in the neighborhood to contact 911 or the Northern District.
