Federal Government Contributes $150,000 to Combat Gang Violence in Baltimore

On Tuesday December 16th, Commissioner Frederick Bealefeld joined United States Attorney Rod Rosenstein and law enforcement officials from around the state to accept a $150,000 grant to combat gang violence in Baltimore.

New Director in Public Affairs Section

The Baltimore City Police Department has a new leader in its Public Affairs Section.  On Monday, December 8, 2008, Anthony Guglielmi (Goo-yell-me) took over as Director of Public Affairs which was recently vacated by Sterling Clifford.

Project Exile: Gun Offender Received 30 Year Sentence

The Baltimore Police Department, partnered with the United States Federal Prosecutor’s Office have successfully earned 11 more convictions of gun offenders through Project Exile. The most notable conviction was Akiba Matthews, camera man of the infamous “Stop Snitching” DVD.

Southwest Drug Unit Nabs Gun Toter

Gun and Rounds

On December 2, 2008, while working in a covert manner, members of the Southwestern Drug Unit arrested an armed suspect whom they believed was participating in illegal narcotic activity.  Detectives were in the 2500 block of Calverton Road when they stopped Clyde Garnes of the 2400 block of West Lexington Street after they suspected him of selling illegal narcotics.
