Baltimore Police provide update on Officer Shot and Police-Involved Shooting

Baltimore, MD (June 18, 2025) — On June 17, 2025, at approximately 7:17 p.m., Officers were patrolling near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Laurens Street when they observed an adult male believed to be armed. During the encounter, the male pointed a handgun and fired at an officer. One officer was struck in the foot, and three officers returned fire, striking the male.

Both the officer and the male were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment. At 11:14 p.m., the male male was pronounced deceased.

The Officer, an eight-year-veteran, is scheduled to undergo surgery this afternoon and remains in fair condition.

The Baltimore Police Department’s Special Investigations Response Team (SIRT) and Homicide Section are investigating the incident alongside the Maryland Office of the Attorney General. The department has activated its Public Release of Critical Incident Recordings Policy and will release Body-Worn Camera footage in accordance with that policy.
