In reference to the homicide that occurred in the Central District, Homicide detectives have arrested 36-year-old James Fitzsimmons of Parkville, Maryland.

 

Fitzsimmons was arrested in connection with the murder of 37-year-old James Britt of Baltimore.

 

Homicide detectives learned that the two men were involved in a physical altercation when Fitzsimmons pushed Britt into the water as Britt retreated from Fitzsimmons.

 

James Fitzsimmons was taken into custody and transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he has been charged with second-degree murder.

On August 2, 2026, at approximately 3:13 p.m., a 37-year-old male was pulled from the water in the 1300 block of Lancaster Street.

 

The 37-year-old male victim was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.

 

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was involved in a physical altercation with another male before he went into the water.

 

Homicide detectives are investigating this incident.
