Central District Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation
On October 26, 2025, at approximately 4:44 p.m., Central District Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of St. Paul Street for a report of an animal bite.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the dog’s owner through the door, who informed officers that the dog was being aggressive and had bitten him. Officers attempted to have the owner, a 33-year-old male, secure the dog in another room, but that was unsuccessful. A short time later, the dog began attacking the owner inside the residence.
The owner exited the residence while the dog continued to attack him. Two officers discharged their service weapons, fatally wounding the dog and striking the owner. The male sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and several bite wounds. He was transported to an area hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
The involved BPD officers are Officer Latesha Holton, a three-year veteran; and Sergeant Jaamal Johnson, a 24-year veteran. All officers are assigned to the Operations Bureau, Central District Patrol.
The Baltimore Police Department’s Special Investigations Response Team (SIRT) is investigating this incident. The Department has activated its Public Release of Critical Incident Recordings Policy. For more information on this policy, click here.
