Fatal Hit-and-Run Homicide Arrest

 

In reference to the fatal hit-and-run that occurred in the 2200 block of McColloh Street, investigators have arrested 31-year-old Michael Akiel Manigo of Baltimore.

 

On January 4, 2026, at approximately 1:21 p.m., a Southern District Foot Patrol Officer arrested Michael Akiel Manigo in the 2300 block of Annapolis Road after locating the disabled striking vehicle.

 

Manigo was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he has been charged with attempted first-degree murder. Upgraded charges are pending.

Western District Fatal Hit-and-Run / Homicide Investigation

 

On January 4, 2026, at approximately 8:09 a.m., a Western District patrol officer was on routine patrol in the 1200 block of West North Avenue when he was advised that a male had been struck by a vehicle.

 

Upon arrival, officers located a 48-year-old male suffering from multiple abrasions to the head and body.

 

Medics responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital, where he remained in critical condition.

 

On January 7, 2026, the victim, identified as Philip Jones, was pronounced deceased.

 

Following interviews with witnesses and a thorough investigation, detectives determined that the incident was not accidental and that a homicide had occurred.
