The victim later died at an area hospital. This is now a Homicide investigation.
Southern District Shooting Investigation
On July 4, 2026, at approximately 3:14 a.m., Southern District patrol officers responded to the 500 block of Freeman STREET for a report of discharging in the area.
Once there, officers located an unidentified male suffering from apparent life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Medics responded to the location and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment.
Due to the victim's condition, Homicide Detectives have been notified.
