Northeast District Attempted Murder Arrest

On February 15, 2023, at approximately 10:10 p.m., a 67-year-old male was getting out of his vehicle in the 3500 block of Northway Avenue when an unknown suspect approached him and attempted to rob him.

The suspect pulled a handgun and discharged the firearm during the encounter.  The victim sustained a graze wound to his stomach and was treated by medics at the scene.

The suspect fled the location on foot.

Northeast District shooting detectives responded and assumed control of the investigation.  Shooting detectives collaborated with robbery detectives and were able to identify the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.

On March 29, 2023, at approximately 6:30 a.m., members of the Warrant Task Force arrested 27-year-old Karon Alston in the 3500 block of E. Northern Parkway without incident.

Alston was transported to the Northeast District where he was interviewed and then to Central Booking where he has been charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder and Attempted Armed Robbery.

While at Central Booking, Karon Alston was also served with three additional open warrants, charging him with Robbery and Assault.

Alston remains in Central Booking and is waiting to see a court commissioner.
