Northwest District Homicide Arrest

In reference to the homicide that occurred in the Northwest District on January 18, 2025, detectives have arrested 37-year-old Shanelle Reed.

Investigators learned that Shanelle Reed fatally shot and killed her father, 59-year-old Brian Reed, during an argument.

Responding officers arrested Shanelle Reed while still on the scene and transported her to the Central Booking Intake Facility where she was charged with first-degree murder.

Northwest District Homicide Investigation

On January 18, 2025, at approximately 6:55 p.m., Northwest District Officers responded to the 5600 block of Groveland Avenue in reference to a reported shooting.

Officers arrived and located a 59-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and assumed control over the investigation. 

Preliminary information revealed that there was a verbal dispute prior to the shooting. A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene.
