Western District Fatal Crash

On July 28, 2026, at 1:48 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Auchentoroly Terrace and Gwynns Falls Parkway. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2019 Ford Transit Van, operated by

 Purcell Ellwood Carter, Jr., was traveling eastbound on Auchentoroly Terrace. As the vehicle approached the intersection, it struck the rear of a 1999 Chevy Tracker that was stopped at a red traffic signal.

The operator of the Transit Van attempted to flee the scene, striking the Chevy Tracker a second time before losing control of the vehicle and colliding with a tree. The operator was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

On August 6, 2026, at approximately 2:45 p.m., AIU officers were notified by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) that Mr. Purcell Carter had succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision.
