Western District Homicide Arrest
Homicide Detectives have charged 25-year-old Ajay Wiggins from Baltimore in connection with the homicide that occurred in the Western District on November 15, 2024.
Ajay Wiggins is accused of killing his 64-year-old mother, Joyce Gaskins, in their home located in the 1600 block of Druid Hill Avenue.
On December 16, 2024, he was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was officially charged with first-degree murder.

Western District Homicide Investigation
On November 15, 2024, at approximately 2:37 p.m., Western District patrol officers responded to a home in the 1600 block of Druid Hill Avenue, for a report of an unresponsive person.
Once there, officers located the victim, 64-year-old Joyce Gaskins (B/F, D.O.B. 08/14/1960) unresponsive, at the location. Medics responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
On the scene was a 25-year-old male family member of the victim. The 25-year-old male was transported to an area hospital for psychological evaluation and treatment.
The victim's body was taken to the Medical Examiner's office for autopsy where the victim's death was ruled a homicide by asphyxiation on December 5, 2024.
Homicide Detectives are investigating.
