Employment at BPD (LGBTQ+)

officers during pride week

The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) is actively seeking qualified employees, including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ+) applicants to fill both Sworn (Police Officer) and NON-SWORN (Civilian) positions on an on-going basis. The BPD will NEVER ask an applicant for either sworn or civilian positions what their sexual preference is because it is ILLEGAL for public employers to ask applicants any questions relating to their sexuality. As of today dozens of openly LGBTQ+ employees have served, and continue to serve in all positions within the Baltimore Police Department, including patrol investigations, specialty units, supervisory and command positions. For more information about employment within the BPD and/or upcoming police officer testing dates, please refer to our Careers Page.

If you are interested in a career with the Baltimore Police Department, email the LGBTQ+ Liaison (Officer Verna Severin) at verna.severin@baltimorepolice.org. You can also talk directly to one of our BPD recruiters.
