View Administrative Hearing Schedule

The Administrative Hearings Unit (AHU) facilitates and coordinates all agency administrative hearings including padlock hearings, suspension hearings, traffic hearings, and disciplinary hearings. Its specific duties are far-reaching, including preparing Internal Affairs cases for review by the Disciplinary Review Committee (DRC); serving investigative files on accused members; summonsing witnesses; coordinating the selection of hearing board members; securing hearing locations that are accessible to the public; and coordinating hearing logistics such as security, administration of rules of procedure, and operation of recording equipment. AHU is also responsible for ensuring that any disciplinary action taken against BPD employees - including training, suspension, loss off leave, and training - is carried out in a timely manner and properly documented with the Human Resources Section and Public Integrity Bureau.

Administrative Hearing Rules of Conduct / Order:

  • All electronic devices inside the administrative hearing room shall remain off and no electronic device may be used to receive, transmit, or record sound, visual images, data, or other information.
  • Firearms are not permitted in the hearing room.
  • Food and drink are not permitted in the hearing room.
  • Broadcasting of the hearing is not permitted.
  • Talking while the hearing is in session is not permitted.
  • Interacting with those involved in the hearing is not permitted.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the hearing room.
  • Conduct that interferes with the proceedings is not permitted.

Anyone who does not comply with these rules is subject to removal from the proceedings.
