Northwest District Handgun and Drug Seizure Arrest

On March 23, 2024, at approximately 1:42 a.m., Northwest District patrol officers were conducting business checks in the 4100 block of Belvedere Avenue, when they observed a vehicle, unoccupied, with the motor running.

As officers approached to further investigate, an adult male, later found to be the driver of the vehicle, attempted to intervene in the officer's investigation.

Inside the vehicle in plain view, officers observed the pictured items and placed the 52-year-old male driver under arrest.

The 52-year-old suspect, who is prohibited from owning a firearm or ammunition, was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility where he was charged accordingly.

Southeast District Handgun Violation Arrest

On March 22, 2024, at approximately 6:40 p.m., a Southeast District Action Team officer was working from a covert location in the 400 block of North Curley Street, when he observed an individual armed in that block.

That officer requested the assistance of Foxtrot and district patrol units, who were able to locate and arrest the 18-year-old suspect, seizing a loaded firearm.

Investigators transported the 18-year-old male to the Central Booking Intake Facility where he was charged with several handgun violations.

Western District Recovered Stolen Auto Arrest

On March 22, 2024, an officer working out of the Western District on a traffic detail was alerted of a stolen vehicle traveling westbound on West North Avenue.

That officer activated his lights and sirens and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop of that vehicle, but the suspects immediately fled the scene.

That officer requested the assistance of Foxtrot who was able to follow the suspect's vehicle and advise officers on the ground of its location.

Additional units responded to the area and with the guidance of Foxtrot, apprehended the 15-year-old male driver and his 16-year-old female passenger in the 900 block of North Franklintown Road without incident.

Officers transported both suspects to the Juvenile Justice Center for processing.

Northeast District Attempted Murder Arrest

In reference to a shooting that occurred in the Northeast District on December 19, 2023, investigators have arrested 21-year-old Zahlir Gantt.

Investigators learned that Gantt shot the 26-year-old male victim while the victim was driving in the 2300 block of East Northern Parkway.

On March 21, 2024, Warrant Apprehension detectives arrested Zahlir Gantt at a home in the 2400 block of Wellbridge Avenue. Gantt was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility where has has been charged with four counts of attempted first-degree murder.
