Central District Fatal Car Accident

On April 12, 2023, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Central District officers responded to the intersection of Franklin and Cathedral Streets for a serious pedestrian involved accident.

Upon arrival, officers observed an unresponsive pedestrian pinned to a building by a vehicle. Medics arrived on the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased.

Members of the BPD Crash Team are investigating this fatal accident.

At this time, fault has yet to be determined.

Central District Homicide Investigation

On April 12, 2023, at approximately 5 p.m., Homicide detectives responded to the subway station at Port Discovery, located in the 600 block of East Baltimore Street, to investigate an unresponsive male who had fallen onto the subway tracks.

Upon arrival, detectives found Baltimore City medics rendering aid to a 28-year-old male. Medics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was standing near the edge of the platform when an unidentified male pushed him from behind, causing him to fall onto tracks, thus electrocuting him. 

The unidentified male fled the scene to an unknown destination.

Southwest District Shooting Investigation 

On April 12, 2023, at approximately 12:33 a.m., Southwest District patrol officers received multiple calls to the 1000 block of Wildwood Parkway, in reference to discharging.

Once there, officers located a crime scene in that block, but found no victim(s).

Officers were then called to the 3900 block of Edmondson Avenue where they spoke with a 27-year-old male who stated he was just involved in an altercation with another male who produced a handgun and began firing at him. The 27-year-old male, who possessed a gun permit, also produced a handgun and returned gunfire at that male before both parties fled the location. Officers on the scene verified that this individual was in fact, legally in possession of a firearm.

A short time later, Western District officers responded to Wheeler Avenue at Franklin Street for a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old male inside of a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital by medics where he is currently in critical condition.

Investigators have determined that this 25-year-old male was the other shooter involved in the Wildwood Parkway incident.

Southwest District detectives are investigating this incident. Charges are pending.
