Southeast District Shooting Investigation

On August 18, 2023, at approximately 3:03 p.m., Southeast District patrol officers responded to an area hospital for a walk-in victim seeking treatment.

Once at the hospital, officers located a 17-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the left leg. The victim is listed in stable condition.

The incident location is unknown at this time.

Southeast District Shooting detectives responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Southeast District Shooting detectives at 410-396-2422.

Northwest District Homicide Investigation

On August 18, 2023, at approximately 5:57 a.m., Northwest District patrol officers responded to the 5200 block of Fairlawn Avenue, for a report of a shooting.

Once there, officers located an unidentified adult male and a 33-year-old female, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Medics transported both victims to area hospitals where the male victim later died. The female victim's injuries are believed to non-life threatening.

Southeast District Homicide Investigation

On August 18, 2023, at approximately 12:25 a.m., Southeast District patrol officers responded to the 1000 block of South Curley Street, for a report of a shooting.

Once there, officers located a 57-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Medics responded to the location and pronounced the victim dead on the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 29-year-old male was in the 1000 block of South Curley Street, when he was approached by three unidentified black male suspects, that produced a gun and announced a robbery. 

During the course of the robbery, a 57-year-old male relative of the 29-year-old, retrieved a firearm from his home and gave chase to the suspects.

As the suspects were fleeing the location with the 29-year-old male victim's property that included the victim's red Dodge Charger (MD tag #3FL1240) the suspects fired at the victims, fatally shooting the 57-year-old male.

The 57-year-old male victim has been identified as Darrell L. Benner of Baltimore.
