Northern District Homicide Investigation 

On August 6, 2023, at approximately 3:31 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of East 33rd Street to investigate a call for a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers were advised that an unknown individual was shot and was transported to an area hospital.

Officers arrived at an area hospital and observed a 29-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest, leg, and stomach. The victim later succumbed to his injuries.  

Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident had occurred in the 500 block of Gorsuch Avenue. 

Homicide detectives responded and assumed control over this investigation.

Southeast District Suspicious Death

On August 6, 2023, at approximately 7:16 a.m., officers responded to the 2400 block of East Madison Street to investigate a call for skeletal remains found in a suitcase.

Upon arrival, officers located human skeletal remains inside a suitcase.

Homicide detectives responded and assumed control over this investigation. The Medical Examiner’s Office retrieved the remains and will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Eastern District Shooting Investigation

On August 6, 2023, at approximately 2:05 a.m., officers responded to the 3100 block of Chesterfield Avenue to investigate a call for a discharging.

Upon arrival, officers located a 37-year-old male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his hand. Medics transported the victim to an area hospital where he is being treated for his injury.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident had occurred in the 3800 block of Kavon Avenue.

Eastern District Shooting detectives responded and assumed control over this investigation.
