Southern District Homicide Investigation

On February 28, 2023, at approximately 6:04 a.m., Southern District patrol officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of Duane Avenue to investigate an unresponsive person.

When officers arrived at the location, officers located a 29-year-old male victim lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the back. The victim was pronounced deceased by BCFD Medic at the scene.

Western District Shooting Investigation

On February 28, 2023, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Western District patrol officers responded to the 500 block of Payson Street to Investigate a reported shooting. 

When officers arrived at the location, officers located a 22-year-old victims suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the hand. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation found that the victim heard a noise at his rear door, prompting him to investigate. When he opened the door, he saw an unidentified individual with a firearm. During the incident, the victim was shot in the hand while attempting to remove the suspect's weapon from him. The suspect then fled in a unknown direction.
