Southeast District Shooting Investigation 

On July 31, 2023, at approximately 5:17 p.m., officers responded to the 2500 block of McElderry Street to investigate a call for a discharging.

Upon arrival, officers discovered evidence of a shooting. Officers were then advised that an area hospital had a walk-in shooting victim. 

Upon arriving at the area hospital, officers observed a 31-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to his body. 

Southeast District Shooting detectives responded and assumed control over this investigation.

Western District Homicide Investigation

On July 31, 2023, at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of Dukeland Street to investigate a ShotSpotter alert.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 21-year-old female suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and a 17-year-old female suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot to her right arm. Officers canvassed the area further and discovered a 22-year-old male suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound to his head. All three victims were transported to an area hospital where despite life-saving measures, the 22-year-old male was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the 1200 block of Oakhurst Place.

Homicide detectives were notified and responded to assume control over this investigation.

Southwest District Shooting Investigation

On July 31, 2023, at approximately 3:35 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of South Monroe Street to investigate a call for a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a 29-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. Medics transported the victim to an area hospital, where he is now listed in stable condition.

Southwest District Shooting detectives were notified and responded to assume control over this investigation.
