Central District Shooting Investigation

On October 3, 2023, at approximately 10:35 p.m., Central District patrol officers responded to an area hospital for a report of a walk-in shooting victim.

Once there, officers located a 33-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the lower body.

The victim's injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was involved in a possible road rage incident while in the 1100 block of West Franklin Street, when he was shot by an unidentified suspect.

Northeastern District Shooting Investigation 

On October 3, 2023, at approximately 9:25 p.m., Northeast District officers responded to the 1700 Block of Argonne Drive to investigate a shooting.

Once at the location, officers located four male victims and one female victim all suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Medics transported all victims to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred outside.

Central District Shooting Investigation

On October 3, 2023, at approximately 8:01 p.m., Central District officers responded to an area hospital for a walk-in victim seeking treatment.

Once at the hospital, officers located a 35-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. The victim has non-life-threatening injuries.

Western District Shooting Investigation

On October 3, 2023, at approximately 7:02 p.m., Eastern District officers responded to the 500 Block of North Calhoun Street to investigate a reported shooting.

Once at the location, officers located an unidentified male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. The victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

Western District Shooting detectives responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Western District Shooting detectives at 410-396-2477.

Western District Homicide Investigation

On October 2, 2023, at approximately 4:36 p.m., Western District patrol officers responded to a vacant home in the 500 block of North Payson Street, in reference to a call to check the wellbeing.

Once there, officers spoke with the caller that stated her loved one had been reported missing on October 1, 2023 and is possibly inside of the location.

Officers gained entry into the dwelling and located the victim, obviously deceased, with signs of trauma to the body.

The victim's remains were transported to the Medical Examiner's office where the victim was identified as Jamal Barney (B/M, 9/24/1986). 

On October 3, 2023, the victim's death was ruled a homicide.
