On Oct. 27, 2022, at approximately 3:29 a.m., officers responded to the 3300 block of Annapolis Road to investigate a call for a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers observed 39-year-old David Rodriguez Ramirez suffering from numerous life-threatening gunshot wounds. Medics had arrived on the scene, and despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives were notified and responded to assume control over this investigation.

During this investigation, detectives identified a suspect in the homicide of David Rodriguez Ramirez.

On Nov. 2, 2023, detectives arrested 24-year-old Gerson Arita Diaz of Baltimore.

Detectives learned that 39-year-old David Rodriguez Ramirez was in the 3300 block of Annapolis Road when he was shot and killed.

Detectives transported Gerson Arita Diaz to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with 1st-degree murder.

Original Advisory: Southern District Homicide Investigation

 On October 27, 2022, at approximately 3:29 a.m., Southern District patrol officers responded to the 3300 block of Annapolis Road, in reference to an unresponsive male.

 Once there, officers located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

 Medics pronounced the victim dead on the scene.
