Southwest District Attempted Murder Arrest

In reference to the shooting that occurred in the Southwest District on Aug. 13, 2023, detectives have arrested 27-year-old Diquann Toney.

Investigators learned that a 19-year-old male victim was in the 1600 block of Wilkens Avenue when he was shot by Toney.

On Nov. 1, 2023, detectives arrested Diquann Toney and transported him to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Southwest District Shooting Investigation

On Aug. 13, 2023, at approximately 1:28 p.m., Southwest District patrol officers responded to the 1600 block of Wilkens Avenue, for a report of a shooting.

Once there, officers located a crime scene inside of a business in that block. No victims were on the scene.

Moments later, officers were dispatched to an area hospital in reference to a walk-in shooting victim.

Upon arrival, officers located an unidentified male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was immediately taken into surgery for treatment of life-threatening wounds.
