Southwest District Murder Arrests

On Feb. 28, 2024, Warrant Apprehension Task Force members arrested a 17-year-old male, 18-year-old Davon Butler and 19-year-old Charles Bowen.

Detectives believe that the 17-year-old male, Butler, and Bowen, were involved in the murder of 19-year-old Darcell Mitchell on Feb. 20, 2024, in the 800 block of West Lexington Street.

Detectives transported these three suspects to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where they have been charged with 1st-degree murder.

Southwest District Homicide Investigation

On Feb. 20, 2024, at approximately 11:34 p.m., Southwest District patrol officers responded to the 800 block of West Lexington Street for a Shot Spotter alert.

Once there, officers located a 19-year-old male inside a home suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

Investigators learned that the victim was shot while standing outside in the 800 block of West Lexington Street. The victim then fled inside a home where police were notified.
